Aura Marina Trevino
Aura Marina Trevino, an international bassoon soloist from Venezuela, is one of the founders of the broadly recognized music program known as “El Sistema” . She had worked as a Bassoon player for the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra in Caracas and as a manager of International music affairs of the Latin-American Bassoon Academy in Caracas. A well-known freelance bassoonist in the South Florida and South West Texas areas, Aura plays for several orchestras including Miami Symphony Orchestra, Symphony of the Americas, Florida Chamber Orchestra, Atlantic Classical Orchestra, Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and The San Antonio Symphony in TX. She received a Licentiate in Bassoon Teaching Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in London, and a certificated of Advance studies in Bassoon. She earned a Master Degree from the University of Miami then attended the DMA program of Boston University (ABD) where she studied with Richard Svoboda and Dr. Mathew Ruggiero.
A proud MOOSMANN ARTIST, Her most recent solo appearances include: The Second Chamber Music International Festival in Caracas (May 2013), in the International Double Reed society Congress #42 in Redlands, CA. (June 2013) and The Meg Quigley Competition and Symposium in Round Top, TX. (Jan. 2014) where she also served as main judge for the competition. As a Bassoon instructor she worked at the Florida International University. In Texas, where she now resides, she freelances for the San Antonio Symphony and works for the San Felipe Del Rio Consolidate Independent School District and the North Side Independent School district of San Antonio. Her teaching work has also reached South Texas Universities such as Sul Ross State University and South West Texas Junior College of Del Rio where she has giving several lecture performances and works as a Music appreciation instructor.
